The Angel Cardigan is knit seamlessly from the top down, starting with gentle neck shaping using short rows. Next, the elegant saddle shoulder is formed using the contiguous method, which provides a particularly refined fit. At the same time, side increases shape the stylish V-neckline. A double-knit button band and a finely worked twisted rib hem give the cardigan its sophisticated, timeless look.

Includes a positive ease of 15–20 cm [6–8 in]. Choose the size that most closely matches your bust measurement plus 15–20 cm [6–8 in], depending on whether you prefer a more fitted or looser cardigan.

Example: If your bust measures 93 cm [36.5 in] and you want 16 cm [6.25 in] of ease, you would knit size 4, since 93 cm [36.5 in] plus 16 cm [6.25 in] equals 109 cm [42.75 in], which is closest to size 4 with 108 cm [42.5in].

The photo shows size 3 on a bust circumference of 87 cm (34.25 in).


Gauge

21 stitches / 33 rows = 10 × 10 cm [4 × 4 in] in stockinette stitch, worked flat with 4.0 mm (US 6) needles after washing and blocking

Needles and Additional Tools

Please choose the needle size that gives you the correct gauge. I knit a bit looser.

1 circular needle with 4.0 mm [US 6] and 3.5 mm [US 4] (80 cm or 100 cm [32 in or 40 in] depending on bust size)

1 circular needle (40 cm) [16 in] or a set of double-pointed needles with 4.0 mm [US 6] and 3.5 mm [US 4] for the sleeves

1 circular needle with 3.0 mm [US 2] (80 cm or 100 cm) [32 in or 40 in]for the button band

You will also need:

4 buttons, each 2.00 cm (¾") in diameter

1 sewing needle and matching sewing thread for attaching the buttons

1 tapestry needle for Italian bind-off and weaving in ends
